Ramsay Inspirational Series: Garbage Warrior

March 17th, 2014

garbage warrior

garbage warrior is a 2007 film about architect mike reynolds, inventor of the earthship style of building.

what is an earthship? its a building style designed to be autonomous, minimizing its reliance on public utilities and fossil fuels. the ‘garbage’ adjective comes from the fact that local resources are utilized, such as tires, cans and bottles.

we might not want to build our city with earthships alone, but what the underlying concepts are and how reynolds goes to the highest level to make it even possible to explore these concepts is fascinating and could soon be our passionate plight.

saturday march 22nd we will be watching this great film so come on down and join us.

I came across this great video about complete streets that I had to share. It’s about New York’s implementation of the Dutch bicycle life style. How do you give the car, bike and pedestrian equal rights on the streets? Check it out. They seem to be successful.

Ramsay Inspiration Series #1: “Urbanized” on Saturday February 9

February 5th, 2013

Starting Feb 9th, we are going to build on the movement that we have been creating over the last year.

We will start hosting intentional gatherings at the Community Hall to inspire conversation, action, and excitement.

Our first event will be a documentary night with popcorn and beverages for the whole family. The movie is Urbanized.

This is a great look at design of cities. What is urban design? What does it do for us? How has it helped us and how has it failed us?

It’s a documentary about hope, how we can make positive changes and live in our cities and love it.

See you there!
