Bring your gooiest, your creamiest, your cheesiest to the Ramsay Winter Festival on Sunday, February 17 at noon. Food celebrity Julie Van Rosendaal and Ramsay’s reigning Iron Chef Wade Paterson will be judging the dishes and awarding one winner the coveted title of Ramsay’s Big Cheese!

The creator of the tastiest mac and cheese will be rewarded with a great prize package including gift cards and other surprises sure to thrill any foodie! Your recipe will be featured in the upcoming Ramsay Cookbook but best of all, you will hold the title of Ramsay’s Big Cheese!

All competitors should arrive at noon because judging begins at 12:30 p.m. sharp! Our judges will taste each entry so if it’s important that your dish remains warm, make sure you bring it in a crock pot or chafing dish. The brave and loyal Ramsay team did their best to vanquish our neighbours from Inglewood. There’s always next year.

A Mighty Thanks

The recreation committee made a valiant effort to keep the ice in shape between the endless Chinooks this winter. To make the rink safe for our “Chinook Shinny” with Inglewood, a team of volunteers took on the disheartening task of getting rid of the ice on the rink.

Thanks to Josep, Maurice, Levi, Liam, Jesse, Ian, Willem and Ben for sacrificing homework time to help out. Shannon, Allison, Marc, Alison, Dave, and Caroline salted, smashed, and supervised.

Winterfest 2012 was awesome. See you next year!

Winterfest 2012 Highlights, part 1 of 2

February 21st, 2012

Ramsay Winterfest 2012 was a great neighbourhood party. Here are some of the highlights.

Fresh Calzones

The day before the event, the Winterfest team got together to make delicious calzones. Wade Paterson generously donated the use of his professionally-equipped kitchen for the occasion.

 Ice Goalie

Frozen Memories provided the ice, tools and oversight for the ice sculpture contest. Their expert carver Julian started by turning this unassuming block of ice:

into a glacial guardian of the net:

Then it was time for everyone to join in the ice carving fun.

Julian was impressed with the talent on display in Ramsay, including Bill Hornecker’s prize-winning ice fish:
