President’s Update – November 2020
November 26th, 2020 by rca_admin No comments »It’s hard to believe it’s been almost 2 months since hauling chairs and blankets to the RCA outdoor AGM. If you didn’t have a chance to join, please find a draft copy of the meeting minutes below. It’s incredible to read the year in review and recognize the efforts of community volunteers. In that same spirit, on behalf of the RCA, I’d like to extend sincere gratitude to our past president, Vince Bodnar. I would not be entering this term with as much optimism had it not been for his leadership through a difficult year.
Last year, much of RCA’s traditional way of business was put to the test with the arrival of covid, shrinking revenues, aging facilities, volunteer turnover and changing demographics and social interests. While this resulted in some tough decisions, such as the release the Community Hall; fewer competing priorities will allow us to revisit our vision and move forward by design. As such, the new Board have been busy building out an annual plan, including some of the following overarching goals:
- A Facility Improvement Plan for the Outdoor Rink and Shack
- Increased Community Engagement
- Updated External Communication Strategy
- Long Term Financial Sustainability Planning
- Revitalized Committees and Volunteer Opportunities
Despite changing health guidelines, Ramsay’s community spirit has not subsided. Here are just a few highlights in recent weeks: a successful Casino, a socially distanced Halloween Parade and festive displays throughout the neighbourhood, a new Board of Directors have settled in, a new Treasurer has stepped forward, a new Committee Chairs has been appointed for Communications, Rec volunteers acquired donated benches and an additional firepit to accommodate social distancing, our Adopt-a-Rink is ready, the undercover rink remains busy with biking on the ramps and many other heartwarming community-led initiatives.
If you’re interested in joining the conversation, please consider attending our monthly Virtual RCA General Meetings. They are held virtually on the first Tuesday of every month with the exception of January, July and August. Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, December 1 @ 7pm via Google Meet. Click here find out how to join: http://ramsaycalgary.ca/event/rca-general-meeting-38/
If you are unable to attend, but have feedback or questions, feel free to email me: president@ramsaycalgary.ca
