Free family fun at the Green Fools April Fools Day Parade

March 26th, 2012

Green Fools Theatre says:

Green Fools Theatre presents the 21st annual April Fool’s Day Parade April 1, 2012.

Free family fun!

In keeping with our namesake, our commitment to community and a connection that we embrace with ritual and tradition, we annually mark April Fools Day with a time-honoured parade and host a public gathering at our studio.

Community participants come in costume and mask or rifle through our supply to become active participants in this local happening. Masked and costumed families, stilt walkers, giant puppets, strollers, bikes, and bagpipers march through the streets singing, yelling, laughing and playing instruments.

On arrival at our studio destination, donated food is devoured and physical theatre skills are introduced. Associate artists lead willing public participates in informal lessons and presentations of juggling, stilt walking and instantaneous clown routines.

Come join in the Parade of Stilt walkers, mask wearers and Fools for all ages! Bring your own costume or wear something of ours. We will be parading back to the Green Fools Theatre where we invite you to stick around with your fellow fools to enjoy activities, snacks, and Green Fools Theatre’s stilt/ mask creations.

Ramsay Visioning Workshop was a Success!

March 17th, 2012

60 Ramsayites came together on Saturday at the Community Hall to answer questions, helping frame the future vision of Ramsay. The positive creativity was flowing with John and Mike from The Natural Step facilitating our first Visioning Workshop.

The ideas that bubbled up through each phase of the process were inspiring.

If you missed the workshop today, don’t worry. We are working on other avenues for you contribute your ideas over the next week or so. We will be adding all contributions together, forming a summary paper. We will work hard to publish this summary paper before the next general meeting.

Keep checking the website for up to date information or just subscribe to have the updates sent to your inbox.

The kids even got in on the visioning. They presented their results to the group, inspiring applause from the adults.

I want to thank all the sponsors that helped out with this event:

Caffe Rosso – for the fantastic muffins and pastries
tnik – for the green tea and even the french press coffee
Crossroads Market – for the fruit trays, the cookies and cheese platter

A Mighty Thanks

The recreation committee made a valiant effort to keep the ice in shape between the endless Chinooks this winter. To make the rink safe for our “Chinook Shinny” with Inglewood, a team of volunteers took on the disheartening task of getting rid of the ice on the rink.

Thanks to Josep, Maurice, Levi, Liam, Jesse, Ian, Willem and Ben for sacrificing homework time to help out. Shannon, Allison, Marc, Alison, Dave, and Caroline salted, smashed, and supervised.

Winterfest 2012 was awesome. See you next year!
