July/August Newsletter Delivery Delay

June 28th, 2012

The July/August newsletter will be delivered about a week later than usual, on the week-end of July 7-8.

Here’s why:

The deadline for newsletter submissions was June 15, but there were some important community events that happened in the last two weeks of June: the Ramsay School 100 year celebration (June 22) and the Visioning workshop (June 23).

The newsletter team needed extra time to report on these events and incorporate them into the layout of the July/August issue.

Otherwise you would have to wait until the September issue to read about events that happened in June.

The September newsletter will be delivered at the regular time.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact

2nd Annual Hoe Down for Ward 9 on Wednesday July 4

June 28th, 2012

Councillor Gian-Carlo Carra sends the following invitation to next week’s Hoe Down for Ward 9:

Dear Neighbour,

In my efforts to be a different kind of politician, I’m trying to approach fundraising in a different way.

I’m leery of the ubiquity of $150 events that are attended solely by the development industry. The Ward 9 Hoe Down is my attempt to create an event that everyone can afford to come to, and that is such value for money (and so fun) that everyone wants to come.

I’d be honored if you came to the 2nd Annual Ward 9 Hoe Down with your family, neighbours, friends, and colleagues to celebrate the amazing community we’re so lucky to share.

A great meal, a great concert by T. Buckley, and a ton of fun all for $35 (it’s an Inglewood Party so bring your kids for free).

Order online at or email Lauren at

Thanks for your support and see you next Wednesday!

Due to a boiler failure the pool is closed today. We are unable to offer a community swim today. We will have notices up at the pool, at 311 and we would ask that you would try to get the word out to the community. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

Again, we apologize.

Ramsay Century Homes Walking Tour

June 18th, 2012

Angie Maeots sends the following info about the Ramsay Heritage walking tour:

Ramsay “Century Homes Calgary” Tour

Rain or shine, come and join Ramsay Heritage for a “walking tour” of the Century Homes within the community!

The Century Homes that are signed up will post a yard sign sharing details on their home, that may include:

  • Architectural
  • Residential
  • Events
  • Photos
  • Stories

Come out and explore these heritage homes, (we will not be going inside any of the homes,) mingle with fellow community residents, learn and share Ramsay’s unique heritage.

Because it is a walking tour, participants will be given a map of the Century Homes locations, to be able to break from the tour and continue it later, or on their own time, if preferred.

We will be gathering in front of the Ramsay Community Association, 1136 8 St SE. Sunday, July 29th, at 2:00 pm. The tour is scheduled to go until 4:30pm

We want to know which places you would like to see included in this project.

If you are interested in hearing more about the project or want to provide input, please join us at the Open House.

There will be time for informal discussion and a presentation on the project to date.

Hope you can join us for snacks, refreshments and a conversation about your community history!
